It is important to share information about the mothers each year who die in the U.S. from complications during pregnancy and childbirth, from infection, preeclampsia, and hemorrhage. 80% of these deaths could have been prevented. In 2021 over 1200 women died. It is important to know that 52,000 women experience life-threatening complications related to their pregnancies and births each year.

It is essential to share this information such as in the CDC's "Hear Her" Campaign to educate women, partners, and families to be aware of the warning signs of complications such as preeclampsia that need to be reported to their healthcare providers.
